Each month we offer some form of Bible Study in the parish. Some are 3 week sessions using Alive in the Word, from Little Rock Scripture. Others are 6-8 weeks and usually are about a specific topic or book of the Bible. All the studies are led by graduates of the Archdiocesan Biblical School. Sessions are promoted in the parish bulletin and listed on the website; click on Parish Life and then Parish Events. For further information or to sign up contact firstname.lastname@example.org
At Mass when the reading of the Gospel begins, we place the sign of the cross on our foreheads, lips and hearts and pray, “May the Lord be in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts.” These symbolize the three forms of prayers vocal, meditative, and contemplation.
Throughout the year we offer sessions on how to pray in different ways. Through the teachings of Christ and the example of the saints the Catholic Church has a rich tradition of ways to pray.
Adoration: Every Wednesday after the 9:00 AM Mass Saint Bartholomew Church
First Friday after the 5:30 PM Mass Saint Bridget Church
Several times a year the parish offers the Financial Peace University course. It is a nine-lesson money course that teaches step-by-step how to create a budget, pay off debt, spend wisely, and save for the future. The only cost is the materials, which is $129.00 per person or per couple. There is no pressure to buy anything or invest in anything. For dates and times click on Parish Life and then Parish Events on our website or check the bulletin. email@example.com 860 643-2403 ext. 1117
Small Christian Communities are small groups of adults who join together weekly or monthly. Small Christian Communities connect the Scriptural readings to members' lives and inspires them to seek individual service. Groups read the Bible readings for the coming Sunday, and share how those readings might apply to their life. No previous knowledge is required; the readings, a commentary on the readings and questions to encourage sharing are all provided. Using those materials, the participants read and listen to the scriptures. After some silent reflection, they focus on a few questions that are designed to help people connect the Bible readings to their lives today. Saint Teresa of Calcutta has approximately 100 people participating in Small Christian Communities. Here are the days and contact info for the current groups.
