CURRENT HOMILY SERIES

THE WALK

The Church offers us forty days to prepare for the passion and death of Jesus which is followed by his glorious resurrection from the dead at Easter!  These days of preparation are the season of Lent, traditionally a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  The scripture readings for Lent, as well as our traditional Lenten practices, provide us with an opportunity to unclutter our lives while we focus on the saving event of Jesus’ death and resurrection.  The theme for our Lenten homily series is “Walking with Jesus to Jerusalem.”  “Walking with” is more than just following; “walking with” involves a commitment.  During this Lenten season we promise to accompany Jesus, and our sisters and brothers, on this journey to the resurrection.  We commit to not only “giving up” certain habits, but also to supporting one another through positive actions with all that we do as we give glory to God through our lives.
